At Elevating Safety Solutions, we are always looking for ways to support lift companies, whether that is through meeting compliance requirements, training needs or providing lift industry policies.  To further enhance our support offering, we are pleased to announce the launch of our new Work Experience Programme, a bespoke service designed to help lift companies engage with their local communities and develop the next generation of industry talent.

What is the ESS Work Experience Programme?
We work with lift companies to design and deliver a tailored work experience placement that gives students and young people a genuine insight into the lift industry. From shadowing engineers on site to experiencing the office-based roles that keep a lift business running – such as compliance, project management and customer service – participants gain a well-rounded view of what a career in lifts and vertical transportation looks like.

Every programme is bespoke, which means we can ensure placements are structured, safe, meaningful and reflective of your business.

Why does it matter for tendering?
When lift companies tender for contracts, they are often asked to demonstrate community engagement as part of their social value commitments. This can include initiatives such as providing work experience placements, supporting local schools and colleges, and investing in the communities in which they operate.

Having a structured, professionally designed work experience programme in place is a straightforward and impactful way to meet these requirements. It shows clients and procurement teams that your company is not just technically capable but also committed to making a positive contribution beyond the job itself.

Stewart Proctor, Director of Elevating Safety Solutions, commented:

“It is well known that the lift industry faces significant skills shortages, and work experience is one of the most effective ways to start addressing that. But beyond the talent pipeline, we are also seeing more lift companies being asked to demonstrate social value as part of the tendering process. We wanted to create something practical that helps our clients meet both of those needs, in a way that benefits young people and their local communities. That’s exactly what this programme is designed to do.”

How ESS can help
We take care of the planning and structure so that your team can focus on delivering a great experience for the participant. Our support includes:

  • Designing a programme tailored to your business and team
  • Ensuring the placement meets health and safety requirements
  • Helping you evidence your community engagement activity

Whether you are tendering for a local authority contract, a housing association project, or a large commercial scheme, having an ESS-designed work experience programme behind you strengthens your bid and demonstrates a genuine commitment to social value.
