Elevating Safety Solutions is delighted to have been accepted as a member of the Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP). This will allow the lift consultancy to enhance its compliance services by inspecting and advising on fire prevention methods in lift shafts.
To become a member, ESS had to fulfil the requirements of the association’s application process. This included an application form, a fire stopping inspection course and agreements to comply with ASFP’s Code of Practice and technical guidelines. Having successfully passed the process, ESS will now be able to inspect a lift shaft following installation to assess fire seals and entrances for example. They can also advise on fire safety precautions prior to installation if needed.
“Fire outbreaks are extremely frightening and in a confined space such as a lift, this can be even more scary. Preventing a fire emergency is therefore a high priority when it comes to lift installations,” states Stewart Proctor, MD of ESS. “Through our new membership with the ASFP we can help building owners and/or lift suppliers ensure they comply with fire regulations.”
Association for Specialist Fire Protection (ASFP)
ASFP is the UK’s leading trade association for the passive fire protection sector. It was formed in 1975 in recognition of a need to bring together passive fire protection manufacturers, contractors, and testing/certification bodies to encourage, develop and give guidance on essential standards in passive fire protection and to support the activities of the fire industry in relation to all forms of ‘built in’ fire protection.
